Mark is a senior Licenced Real Estate Agent with a diverse background across the selling, buying, developing and advisory spectrum within the Victorian real estate market. After five years in retail and private banking at NAB and Bank Leumi (London), Mark moved into real estate beginning as a sales agent with Ray White. Quickly learning the craft and constantly upgrading his skills through a range of industry courses and certificates, Mark was awarded Ray White ‘Elite’ status in 2011, a title reserved for the top 50 agents from a national sales force of over 5,000. During his sales career, Mark has worked on hundreds of family homes as well as development sites and ‘off the plan’ sales of townhouses and apartments. Expanding his skill set, in 2014 Mark transitioned from traditional sales to buyers advocacy assisting investors and home buyers to purchase homes across Melbourne. Mark became an expert in the world of ‘off market’ property where he implemented industry best standard of service for his clients. Opening his own business in 2016, Mark focused on high end luxury home buying, priding himself on buying ‘off market’ more often than ‘on market’. As well as continuing to help investment buyers, he also began using his knowledge of the sales process to assist sellers around Victoria by providing vendor advocacy knowledge and advice. Mark’s largest transaction to date came just six months after opening his own business when he facilitated the sale of an iconic Mornington Peninsula property for in excess of $30 million. Joining Longview in 2019, Mark brings extensive experience and knowledge to assist clients with advice around growing and managing their portfolio. How long have you been in real estate?
12 years, six years as a sales agent and six years as a property advocate and advisor.
What aspect of real estate are you an expert in, or what are you most proud that you do?
My expertise and knowledge base have benefited hugely by moving away from the traditional path of residential real estate sales. I no longer focus on just one suburb or municipality and have spent the last six years becoming a Melbourne and Victorian property expert as opposed to being a local real estate agent. It means that I have the opportunity to help clients across the entire real estate spectrum from luxury bayside homes, development sites right around the city, family homes in the leafy eastern suburbs and apartments all over Melbourne. I have also been fortunate enough to work on numerous substantial land holdings and estates (sales and purchases) throughout the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley.
What is the strangest thing you have had to deal with in your real estate career?
Climbing onto a garage roof and squeezing through a second storey window to open a home for sale when the owner forgot to leave a key out for me.
What is your most interesting non real-estate job you have ever had and what about it has helped you most in your real estate role?
Working as a personal banker in London for high net worth clients. It helped me learn world’s best customer service standards and how to work with clients who have high expectations of service on tight time frames.
What is the one piece of advice you would give a new vendor/landlord/client?
First home buyers : slow down and reconsider the types of property you are looking at, speak to us before you make the leap and we can give you some great, free advice about what and where to buy. Getting your first purchase right is critical to setting yourself up for the future with capital growth being vital.
Investors : if your property isn’t performing and is stuck in the slow lane, we have some great innovative ways to upgrade your underperforming property to one that out performs the market.
